ARMY CORPS LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE FOR RAYSTOWN LAKE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT

RAYSTOWN LAKE, Pennsylvania — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) has launched a new website that addresses the proposed development atop Terrace Mountain and the Hawn’s Bridge Area of Raystown Lake, Pa. It can be accessed at http://bitly.com/Raystowndevelopment, or via the Raystown Lake website.

The new website includes general information on the proposed development, including frequently asked questions, access to relevant Corps policy documents, and a section dedicated to stakeholder comments and feedback.

“We have received a steady amount of feedback from the public, both via email and social media,” said Operations Division Chief Dianne Edwardson. “The Corps understands that a development of this scale has the potential to cause tremendous change throughout both Huntingdon County and the Raystown community. We are dedicated to approaching the development process both meticulously and methodically.”

All public feedback and interest submitted via the development website will be catalogued, in order to assure stakeholder’s voices are considered throughout the proposal review process. The ultimate decision will be based on a multitude of factors, including environmental and economic impacts.

Raystown Lake is the largest lake located entirely in Pennsylvania and offers 8,300 surface acres of clear water surrounded by 21,000 acres of forested mountain slopes.  Raystown is a multi-purpose lake constructed and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flood damage reduction, recreation and natural resource opportunities, and hydropower.

Visitors come to Raystown to enjoy panoramic views of undeveloped land and waters, access to excellent public recreation facilities, and fishing and hunting opportunities.  From camping and boating, to hiking and mountainbiking, to Striped Bass fishing and Whitetail Deer hunting, and everything inbetween - Raystown offers something for everyone.
