By NAWCAD Public Affairs - June 30, 2015
NAVAL AIR SYSTEMS COMMAND, Patuxent River, Md. -- On June 8, 2015, a UH-1Y from Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (HX) 21 completed the first test flight with a developmental electronic warfare (EW) pod. The pod would represent a new tactical capability for U.S. Marine Corps rotary wing aircraft, and allow for changing mission requirements mid-flight. HX-21 conducts developmental flight test and evaluation of rotary-wing and tilt-rotor aircraft and airborne systems in support of all Navy and Marine Corps training, operational combat, and combat support missions. HX-21 is headquartered at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland.
