Carderock Math Contest

The Carderock Math Contest (CMC) is a unique educational opportunity for District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia middle-school students with an interest in mathematics. The all-day free event takes place annually and consists of a MATHCOUNTS-style competition, an exciting STEM presentation, an interactive tour of Carderock's state-of-the-art facilities, an on stage countdown round and an awards ceremony.

The Carderock Math Contest welcomes and encourages students of all ability levels to attend. The goal of this event two-fold; it is to recognize students for their interest in math and to inspire them to pursue STEM educations and careers. For children without family members that are scientists, technicians, engineers or mathematicians, it is an opportunity to meet STEM professionals that have embraced their affinity for math by turning it into their career. Carderock employees are passionate about the work we do, our facilities and our mission and our interactive tours are designed to convey that passion with applied mathematics in mind - giving students a chance to see how the same math they learn in the classroom is used to solve the Navy's important engineering problems.
