The DoD Enterprise Classified Travel Kit Gateway (DECTK-GW) provides users with a portable, classified voice, video, and data reach-back capability through any Internet connection anywhere in the world. Initially available as a specialized service to select users, DECTK-GW is now operationally ready and available to users DoD-wide.
“The DECTK-GW infrastructure and supported kits allow users to make classified voice calls through DISA’s Enterprise Classified Voice over Internet Protocol (ECVoIP) service and access the Secret IP Router Network (SIPRNET) through any Internet connection,” said Army Maj. Joy Thomas, the Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) DECTK program manager.
An individual can use the kit by connecting to the Defense Enterprise Computing Center-hosted DECTK infrastructure through a hard connection to any Ethernet port, the built-in wireless broadband router, or a USB modem air card. The user is then required to authenticate using a crypto ignition key and a username/password for voice or Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) hard token for data.
“All of the kits use High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor (HAIPE) devices to provide defense-in-depth protection to the DISN and the kit itself,” said Thomas.
There are two kits currently approved to operate with DECTK-GW, and a third is expected to be available later this summer.
-- Executive Voice Kits (EVK) weigh 18 pounds and allow users to make classified calls or access the SIPRNET.
-- Executive Communications Kits (ECK) weigh 12 pounds and allow for concurrent classified voice and data use.
-- Secure Flyaway Kit (SFK) is currently undergoing testing and is expected to be available by the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2015. SFK permits concurrent voice, video, and data use; enables access to multiple classified and unclassified domains; and weighs 19 pounds.
DECTK-GW expands upon and replaces the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE)-developed and managed Executive Voice Kit (EVK), which offered only secure voice capability by providing users with both SIPRNet access and classified voice. DECTK-GW also brings more robust failover, security, and service support features.
During the next two months, DISA will transition JSCE users to the DECTK-GW infrastructure. Once that transition is complete, DISA will begin on-boarding new customers. Prospective customers are encouraged to use this time to complete all the service prerequisites to ensure timely activation once on-boarding begins.
