Combat Center links military kids via website

The internet has become a primary tool to find resources and information and to connect with like-minds. The Department of Defense supports a website called Military Kids Connect, which helps children to cope with the stresses of that come with being a military child, like a parent’s deployments or having to frequently relocate.

Extended periods of time away from a parent can undoubtedly be difficult, but this website is one of several resources available to aid.

Secretary of the Army visits National Center for Telehealth & Technology

JOINT BASE LEWIS-McCHORD, Wash. – Secretary of the Army John McHugh made a visit to Joint Base Lewis-McChord Feb. 4 and 5 to conduct a news conference announcing the completion of a comprehensive, Army-wide review of the soldier behavioral health diagnoses and evaluations. The National Center for Telehealth and Technology, commonly referred to as T2, was among the stops McHugh made to JBLM.

DoD's new Android App connects to wearable devices for biofeedback

The National Center for Telehealth and Technology (T2), an agency of the Department of Defense, has been introducing online and mobile health tools for people in the military, veterans, and their families since 2008. Their newest offering, BioZen, is an effort to get ahead of the trend of personal sensors and provide a free mobile tool to help people use those sensors to improve their health through the practice of biofeedback.

Award Winning Website for Military Kids Expands Content to Help Kids Cope

MilitaryKidsConnect.org, recognized for excellence with five industry awards, is celebrating the start of their second year with new content that helps military youth cope with the effects of war on their loved ones.  The new modules address post -traumatic stress, grief and loss, and physical injury.  And for parents, there are guides on how to discuss these tough topics with kids.
In addition, there are also resources for educators of military kids including helpful lesson plans that educators can use to support military kids in the classroom.
