Go to the Military Academic Advancement Program website for a timeline that tells you what you need to do to enroll and when you need to do it before your semester starts. For example, at least six months before the semester starts, you should contact one of the campus coordinators, who'll help you get information to choose a home university and academic program.

Military OneSource to speak with an education consultant or a personal financial counselor, at no cost to you.
You can earn your graduate degree in one of three program areas:
- Family and community services — Community development and working with families is what this 36 credit-hour master's degree program is all about. The focus is on support services for individuals, families and communities.
- Family financial planning — Get certified to help families make sound financial plans for education, retirement or even that next big vacation. You can choose a 42 credit-hour master's degree program, an 18 credit-hour graduate certificate that meets the educational requirements to take the Certified Financial Planner Certification Examination or an 18 credit-hour graduate certificate in financial counseling and housing that qualifies you to take the Accredited Financial Counselor exam.
- Youth development — You can be an incredible agent for change, helping youth make that tricky transition to adulthood. Options include a 36 credit-hour master's degree program in youth development, a 13 credit-hour youth development specialist certificate, or a 13 credit-hour youth program management and development graduate certificate.
More academic programs are available in the human sciences and agriculture. Visit the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance website for a complete list of academic programs.
