Continental United States Interceptor Site (CIS)

Draft EIS
The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) evaluates candidate sites for a potential future deployment of additional ground-based interceptors for homeland defense, as required by the fiscal year 2013 National Defense Authorization Act. For each of the sites, the following resource areas were assessed: air quality, airspace, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and soils, hazardous materials and hazardous waste management, health and safety, land use, noise, socioeconomics, transportation, utilities, water quality, wetlands, visual and aesthetic and environmental justice.

Draft EIS Public Meeting Materials
Information below will be available at the Draft EIS public meetings in June 2016.

Federal Register Notice - Extension of Public Comment Period to August 17
The MDA is extending the public comment period for the Draft EIS. The public comment period was set to end July 18 and has been extended by 30 days. The public comment period will now end on August 17, 2016. Notice of this extension was issued in the Federal Register on July 15. MDA is still on track to complete the Final EIS later this year.

NOA
The Notice of Availability (NOA) of the Draft EIS was published in the Federal Register on May 31, 2016.

NOI
The Notice of Intent (NOI) to prepare an EIS was published in the Federal Register on July 16, 2014.
