Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) - ONR Internship for College Students

Program Description:
This 10-week internship program is designed to provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in research under the guidance of an appropriate research mentor at a participating Navy laboratory.

Eligibility Requirement:
U.S. citizen (Permanent resident alien status considered at some labs)
Sophomore, junior, senior or graduate students 
Enrolled at a participating university (list found at http://nreip.asee.org)

All majors relevant to the research interests of the laboratories (lab descriptions found at http://nreip.asee.org)

Selection:
NREIP interns will be selected based upon academic achievement, personal statements, recommendation, and career and research interests.

Science and Engineering Apprentice Program (SEAP) - ONR Internships for High School students

The Science and Engineering Apprentice Program (SEAP) places academically talented high school students with interest and ability in science and mathematics as apprentices in Department of Defense laboratories for eight weeks during the summer. These students work with scientists and engineers who act as mentors. The program offers students a unique and positive experience in their fields of interest, thus encouraging them to pursue careers in science and engineering. There are over 35 Navy and Army laboratories currently participating in the program.

Undergraduate/ Graduate Students Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART)

The Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program has been established by the Department of Defense (DOD) to support undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The program aims to increase the number of civilian scientists and engineers working at DOD facilities.

Program Highlights:
This is a summer program for college students pursuing a bachelors or master's degree. The students receive a full scholarship from DOD, including living expenses, tuition and fees, and commit to working at NSWC Port Hueneme Division upon completion of degree. DOD pays the full scholarship plus stipend during the full time summer internship at NSWC Port Hueneme Division.

Eligibility:
• Applicants must be a U.S. citizen
• A student in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (as calculated by the SMART application)
• Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the disciplines listed on the website
• Applicants must be willing to accept post-graduate employment with NSWC Port Hueneme Division
• Applicants must be able to obtain an interim security clearance.
