Overview

Our partners purchasing Server services are offered a wide array of storage opportunities that allow DISA to provide the level of service required to meet maximum acceptable data loss for each application.

Rate-based server storage pricing is based on the gigabyte (GB) of storage allocated per month and the level of service requested by the partner for data recovery. The basic service storage capacity of LA is the standard service for production servers and all other services, including backup, are cumulative.

The table below shows the options available for local recovery.

NOTE: Local recovery will not satisfy the Continuity of Operations (COOP)/Service Continuity requirements detailed in DOD Instruction 8500.2, which mandates a remote recovery strategy at a predetermined location. Operational recovery options will not, by themselves, satisfy the stated requirements for continuity. If COOP is provided within the solution, additional local recovery options are not recommended due to cost.

NOTE: DISA recommends all database replication occur with host-based replication.

STANDARD FEATURES

Default Local (LA+LD) – This offering includes only local recovery following an outage at the primary production/processing site. The offering assumes that the hardware and software elements of the processing environment are, or can be made, operational and that data backups can be used to restore the application.

Our partners will be invoiced for all appropriate costs based on the service selected and the amount of allocated storage in gigabyte (GB)/month. All partners will be provided and invoiced for the basic service, Default Local (LA+LD), in the table below for data recovery, not application restoration. Partners may select to augment LA in accordance with their needs. If a partner chooses to buy additional storage to support remote recovery, it will be noted in Section 4.0 and 7.0 of the SLA.

The following list identifies functions that DISA will perform on our partners' behalf:

Storage Engineering

Develop and implement enterprise storage standard architecture
Engineer partner solution to fit within the DISA standard architecture
Develop storage policies and procedures
Define standard enterprise back-up policies
Provide level III troubleshooting expertise for standard storage architecture

General Storage and Backup Administration

Create, maintain, and update storage documentation and diagrams
Plan, document and coordinate storage hardware and software changes
Secure all storage and backup hardware and software solutions using applicable STIG
Perform annual security reviews and participate in security audits
Implement CyberCom Communications Tasking Order (CTO), Fragmentary Orders (FRAGO) and Information Operations Conditions (INFOCON) requirements
Assist administrators during troubleshooting and hardware repair

Storage Allocation

Provision storage, zone fabric switches, and perform migrations
Monitor enterprise storage environment for availability and capacity
Configure, manage, and optimize storage hardware and software
Configure, manage, and optimize storage-based replication environment
Provide 24/7 support for incidents and authorized service interruptions (ASIs)

Storage Backup

Configure, manage, and optimize storage backup hardware and software
Monitor enterprise backup environment for performance, availability and capacity
Maintain enterprise backup and application software
Support and manage backup schedules
Coordinate with administrators to resolve backup failures
Provide 24/7 Disaster Recovery support

Storage Performance

Provide storage performance tuning
Perform equipment diagnostic tests to identify hardware or software problems
Perform root cause analysis for problem management

OPTIONAL FEATURES

Local Recovery, or "recovery in place," is a program designed to provide continuity in the event of an outage affecting the equipment, software and/or data that make up the application infrastructure but that leaves the primary facility operating and accessible. Based on the solutions selected, there are two advanced options for recovery.
NOTE: If COOP is provided within the solution, additional local recovery options are not recommended due to cost.
- Operational Local (LA): This level of continuity provides sufficient storage infrastructure in place to allow an operational recovery with a maximum data loss of 24 hours. The reduced timeline is driven by the use of on-site storage capacity, which maintains data replication in a near online state. This advanced level of recovery assumes that either a dedicated local server is available or the production server has not been affected.
Cost Reimbursable Services (LD):
- More copies and longer retention of weekly and incremental backups beyond the established basic service (Not intended to support partner or third-party non-DECC COOP solutions.)
- Additional application backups (Not intended to support partner or third-party non-DECC COOP solutions.)
- Additional or special offsite storage services (Not intended to support partner or third-party non-DECC COOP solutions.)
- Special advanced functionality or non-standard solutions.
