The Global Directory Service (GDS) provides a Public Key Enabling (PKE) DOD-wide search capability that allows mission partners to obtain information regarding DOD personnel (e.g., name, email address, public email certificates).
With more than five million entries currently in the directory, GDS is used widely throughout the DOD as an account provisioning service.
GDS receives continuous data updates from the DOD Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and is an authoritative source for DOD PKI certification validation. GDS is also an authoritative source for certificate revocation lists (CRLs) and certificate authority certificates.
GDS is available on both the Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) and the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet).
