OPERATIONAL SUPPORT SYSTEM (OSS)

Customers are now able to access DISN information via a customer portal, OSS Central. OSS Central is your typical Web-based information portal that is accessible from a standard Web browser. OSS Central has access to all DISN OSS data maintained by the Information Sharing Systems, including alarms, trouble tickets, and inventory data. Users customize their experience with OSS Central by specifying the information portlets of interest for their desktop. OSS Central is available via NIPRNet and SIPRNet.

ELEMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

The EMS provides control and management of DISN elements. Through an array of best-fit commercial off-the-shelf COTS solutions, the EMS collects, consolidates, and normalizes fault, performance, and configuration data to and from network elements for processing by the Network Management Systems (NMS). NETWORK MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

The NMS provides a unified operational view of the DISN, including network event management, network performance management, problem management, and network service reporting. This gives DISN customers a common operational picture of the DISN, as well as and network-wide visibility into its operational performance , along withand a centralized repository of DISN physical and logical configurations (planned and operational), tracking of scheduled and unscheduled service-affecting events, and network focused reporting. SERVICE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

The SMS focuses on the service catalog, on ordering communications services offered by DISN, and on managing the relationship with DISN customers. Through network- and customer-facing solutions, the SMS takes customer service orders, processes them, and allocates networking resources to satisfy the requirements. The systems It also tracks service orders from submission through activation, and provides tools that allow subscribers to track their service orders. INFORMATION SHARING SYSTEMS

The ISS supports the DoD Network Operations Strategic Vision and Joint Concept of Operations (CONOPS) by providing an environment for bi-directional sharing of information to achieve end-to-end situational awareness about the Global Information Grid (GIG) network infrastructure, dynamic ordering of DISN products, and e-bonding with suppliers and partners. Operational Support Systems (OSS) facilitates and automates the Operations, Administration, Maintenance, and Provisioning (OAM&P) activities for DISA using commercial best practices, industry technologies and standards, and international frameworks.

The OSS management environment of the DISA capabilities are transforming toward a single, comprehensive system of integrated components using a service-oriented integration architecture to achieve DoD’s NetOps strategic vision.

The data-centric and services-based OSS will:
