There are two types of ratings that may be given:
- Annual
- Special
The annual rating of record is the rating that is counted for retention credit during reduction in force and can be used as the basis for a performance award or Quality Step Increase.
IMPACT OF PERFORMANCE RATINGS:
Successful Level 1
- Given 20 years creditable service for RIF;
- Eligible for within-grade increase;
- Eligible for Quality Step increase;
- Eligible for a rating-based Performance Award.
- Eligible for within-grade increase;
Successful Level 2
- Given 16 years creditable service for RIF;
- Eligible for within-grade increase;
- Eligible for a rating-based Performance Award.
- Eligible for within-grade increase;
Successful Level 3
- Given 12 years creditable service for RIF;
- Eligible for within-grade increase;
- Eligible for a rating-based Performance Award.
- Eligible for within-grade increase;
Fair
- Given 0 years creditable service for RIF;
- Counsel/train to help improve performance;
- No within-grade increase.
- Counsel/train to help improve performance;
Unsuccessful
- Given 0 years creditable service for RIF;
- Given opportunity period to demonstrate acceptable level;
- Placed on Performance Improvement Plan (PIP);
- No within-grade increase.
- Given opportunity period to demonstrate acceptable level;
