Ombudsman Program Training

Ombudsman Basic Training (OBT/eOBT)

Ombudsman Basic Training (OBT) is required for all command ombudsmen and is available in two options, classroom and online (eOBT). Training is open to ombudsmen, FFSC/RCC Ombudsman Coordinators and staff, and command leadership and their spouses. Both training options fulfill the training requirements as outlined in OPNAVINST 1750.1G CH-2.

FFSC OBT schedules are listed by state and installation.

Contact your FFSC Ombudsman Coordinator or RCC Warrior and Family Support Specialist for advanced training schedules at your local installation or region.

Certified Ombudsman Trainer (COT) Training

OBT is taught by CNIC-approved Certified Ombudsman Trainers (COTs).

COT schedules are posted by installation.

eOBT and Ombudsman Hot Topic Webinars

NOTE: All live webinars are scheduled in the Eastern time zone. Students should adjust for their specific time zone and location.

eOBT, an online option for Ombudsman Basic Training, is a blend of five live webinars and five on-demand modules. eOBT is offered monthly with times rotating quarterly between morning, afternoon and evening classes, in order to accommodate most time zones.

The live webinars (modules 1, 4, 6, 7 and 10) will be posted on the LMS calendar and may be accessed using the links provided below. The on-demand modules (2, 3, 5, 8 and 9) are available on the LMS via the self-paced link. You must begin with module 1 and complete modules 1 - 9 before enrolling in and attending module 10.

Additional Ombudsman Program Webinars include Ombudsman Hot Topic webinars that are offered monthly on topics of particular interest to ombudsmen, via the Learning Management System (LMS). These webinars are recorded and may be viewed on the LMS under the tab for self-paced trainings within a week of the offered date.

For all Ombudsman Program webinars, log in to the Learning Management System (LMS). Government Staff/Active Duty may use this alternate login address. The LMS Helpdesk is available for assistance with creating an account, enrolling in and accessing the eOBT modules or live webinars. If a webinar you would like to attend is not posted on the LMS calendar, please mark your calendars, reminding you to enroll closer to the actual training date.

Contact your local FFSC Ombudsman Coordinator or CNIC Ombudsman Training Coordinator at (402) 614-0550, if you have any training questions.
