The U.S. European Command area of responsibility force protection condition will be raised beginning the morning of Oct. 16. The increased force protection posture will last through the afternoon of Oct. 17.

This elevated posture is a demonstration and validation of our force protection procedures to ensure the safety and security of our personnel. This is not in response to a specific threat, but is due to force protection concerns throughout the EUCOM area of responsibility.

EUCOM has taken this step based on our firm commitment to make every possible effort to ensure the safety and security of our personnel.

In addition to this demonstration and validation of force protection measures, it is vital that every member of our European community remain vigilant and aware, and report suspicious activity to local officials.
