DLA Product Testing Center - Introduction

In 1993, DLA Land and Maritime initiated a study to determine whether or not organic laboratory testing within the agency is necessary to assure product integrity in support of overall mission responsibility. This study determined that organic laboratory testing is vital to DLA's mission.

In 1994, DLA established the Product Testing Center. In accordance with General Order 53-94, DLA consolidated five pre-existing ICP and Depot testing facilities under a single management office. This office is located at the Defense Supply Center Columbus. DLA Land and Maritime now manages personnel and equipment from the Electronics Testing Facility and a Mechanical Testing Facility, which are co-located with the DLA Land and Maritime Inventory Control Point and the Analytical/Chemical Testing Facility at the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia.

The new consolidated Product Testing Center provides testing services to DLA, other DoD activities, and in some cases, the private sector, that are:

  • Timely
  • Responsive
  • Credible
  • Economically Priced
  • Tailored to Customer Needs
