Keep It to Yourself

Not everyone manages change in a healthy way. Ian has managed to keep his grades up even though his mom's deployed. But his sister is a different story—and lately, she's not easy to live with. It can be pretty tempting to use damaging information as a secret weapon against her, and boy, does he have some damaging information—Emma's shoplifting. He's holding on to that for future use—even though Emma is headed for trouble and needs help.

  • Think of a time when you've decided to hold back on something that probably should have been shared. What factors went into your decision? Would you do it differently?
  • What Next?
Even though Ian is frustrated and angry with his sister, he still has some choices. He can try to talk to his sister again or seek advice from his mom or grandma.
