INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE

We focus on industrial hygiene concerns that are new, unique, or more complex than the typical day-to-day issues encountered by Navy field industrial hygiene programs. Many of our projects are special requests from Naval systems commands or Navy medicine regions for technical evaluations under the Consultative Assistance Team process described in OPNAVINST 5100.23 Series.

Our department is staffed by industrial hygienists, most of whom are certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (i.e., Certified Industrial Hygienists), the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (i.e., Certified Hazardous Materials Managers), or are working toward certification. The remainder of our staff includes toxicologists and administrative support personnel. Together, we develop and maintain expertise on topics that impact occupational health across the Navy and Marine Corps.

Our department is organized into three divisions: Program Support, Acquisition Technical Support and Fleet Services. However, many of our projects are done by cross-functional teams to ensure the best skills and experiences are combined to produce a successful outcome.
