Dr. Brenda Miller assumed duties as Senior Safety Advisor to the Director of Army Safety in 2008. She was also appointed the Functional Chief Representative for Career Program-12, responsible for the continued development, coordination and evaluation of an effective integrated safety and occupational health career program, with purview that includes personnel life-cycle management and proponency functions of accession, structure, management, accreditation, professional development and sustainment.

Dr. Miller began her civil service career as an Education Specialist with the Directorate of Training and Doctrine, Fort Rucker, Ala. Her previous assignments include Director, Community Counseling Center, Camp Humphreys, Korea; Safety and Occupational Health Intern, Martin Army Hospital, Fort Benning, Ga.; Safety Specialist, U.S. Army Safety Center, Fort Rucker; Army Environmental Policy Institute Safety Fellow, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Ga.; and Director, Training/G7, U.S. Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center, Fort Rucker.

Dr. Miller holds a Doctorate of Education from Auburn University, a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science from Troy University, and a graduate certificate in Occupational Safety from Eastern Kentucky University. She is an alumna of the Senior Leader Seminar, United States Army War College, 2012; Army Management Staff College, 1998; and USDA Executive Potential Program, 1994. Dr. Miller also holds a professional certificate from the American National Standards Institute in Safety and Occupational Health and an executive certificate in Safety and Health from the American Society of Safety Engineers.

Dr. Miller's awards and honors include Fort Rucker Woman of the Year, 1994, 1997 and 2001; Embry Riddle Outstanding Faculty Award, 2002, 2003 and 2007; two nominations, Department of Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Award; and numerous other special acts and Civilian recognition awards.

Dr. Miller is an active adjunct professor and has taught and developed courses at several institutions of higher learning, including Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Central Texas College, Berean University and the National Graduate School.
