Sesame Workshop’s “When Families Grieve” initiative includes a primetime special hosted by Katie Couric that aired on PBS April 14, and is part of support materials for families.
** Our webinar on Supporting Our Military Children When Trauma, Grief and Loss Arise, is happening this Thursday, May 27, from 1300 to 1430 hrs EST.
Explaining to a child that their parent is deploying is never an easy task. Explaining that their parent has changed or died is even more difficult. We are hosting this webinar to help our military families who have to endure these challenges. The webinar will discuss strategies for discussing these sensitive issues with children.
The latest phase of Sesame Workshop’s Talk, Listen, Connect initiative “When Families Grieve” will be highlighted. In the series, Elmo and his cousin Jesse cope with the loss of Jesse’s father, “Uncle Jack.” See what Elmo recently shared with the DCoE Blog Team on how he copes with his feelings.
The webinar will feature guests from Sesame Workshop, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) and the Military Child Education Coalition.
All service members, family members, government employees, health care providers, subject matter experts and anyone interested in this topic are encouraged to join.
