Major General Peter S. Lennon

Deputy Commanding General (Support)

Major General Peter S. Lennon was commissioned in the Transportation Corps in 1977 upon graduation from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania with both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering. He also holds a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and is a resident graduate of the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Major General Lennon assumed responsibilities as Deputy Commanding  General  (Support)  of  US  Army  Reserve Command 1 October 2014 following a two-year tenure as Commander of the 377th Theater Sustainment Command, Belle Chasse, Louisiana. 

Previous recent command tours include; 1st Brigade, 75th Mission Command Training Division, Houston, Texas and the 316th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.  Previous to those commands, he served as the Deputy Director of Logistics, U.S. Central Command and was an architect in the development of the Northern Distribution Network into Afghanistan.  During this assignment, he also deployed to Kuwait as Director of U.S. Central Command’s Deployment and Distribution Operations Center (CDDOC) in support of the build-up of forces in Afghanistan and the Responsible Drawdown of forces from Iraq.

Other assignments include Deputy Commander (Mobilization), Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), Fort Eustis, Virginia; operational lead for SDDC’s relocation and consolidation at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; Director of the Oil for Food Program Coordination Center and Senior Highway Transportation Advisor to the Iraq Ministry of Transportation; Commander of the 1189th Transportation Terminal Brigade, Charleston, South Carolina; and project lead for SDDC’s Post 9-11 Security Escort Vehicle mission.

His units of assignment include the 300th Transportation Group, Butler, Pennsylvania; 1st Transportation Movement Control Agency (Forward), Taszar, Hungary; 4th Movement Region (Augmentation), Fort Belvoir, Virginia; 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado; and 8th Infantry Division, Bad Kreuznach, Germany.

Major General Lennon’s decorations and badges include the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit Medal, (3rd award), Bronze Star Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal (7th award), Army Commendation Medal (3rd award), Army Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, NATO Medal and Parachutist Badge.

In his civilian capacity, Major General Lennon retired as the Deputy Director for SDDC’s Transportation Engineering Agency in Newport News upon his most recent mobilization/deployment. He is married to the former Elaine Rovazzi of Little Falls, New York.  Mrs. Lennon is a nuclear medicine physicist who continues to consult to numerous hospitals and imaging centers in northern New Jersey.
