DoD Small Business Opportunities
The purpose of this section is to identify areas of potential small business growth that are new, developing, or have recently come to the attention of this office. The intent is not to duplicate information which exists through traditional acquisition tools.
DoD Service Forecasts
Future acquisition forecasts are prepared by a number of organizations within DoD. Forecasting methodologies vary by service but constitute the 'best estimate' of each.

Rapid Innovation Fund
The Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF) is designed to transition innovative technologies, primarily from small businesses that can be rapidly inserted into acquisition programs that meet specific defense needs. A Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) entitled "Department of Defense (DoD) Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF)", which will include separate technology areas of interest for each of the Military Departments and the Defense Agencies, will be used to solicit white papers and technical proposals that resolve DoD operational challenges or other critical national security needs.

Rapid Equipping Force
The US Army's Rapid Equipping Force published a Broad Agency Agreement
on May 3, 2011 which seeks proposals for technical solutions that will address problems identified by field commanders. Participation by small business is encouraged.

DoD is seeking proposals to support or establish Science and Technology programs that would reduce the energy load at expeditionary outposts such as forward operating bases, combat outposts and patrol bases in combat, stability and humanitarian operations
