The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Office of Small Business Programs hosted a forum designed to educate small business representatives about the latest trends and challenges facing the Department of Defense (DOD) at its Headquarters Sept. 16.

The Risk Adjudication and Connection Division offers both recorded and live training to Department of Defense (DOD) and non-DOD entities seeking to establish, re-accredit, or re-certify their connections to the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN).

Army CSM John W. Troxell, senior enlisted advisor to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (SEAC) and the senior noncommissioned officer in the U.S. armed forces, met with enlisted members of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Joint Force Headquarters – Department of Defense Information Networks (JFHQ-DODIN) at their shared headquarters on Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, on March 16.

The humid morning run began before sunrise with more than 50 Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Joint Force Headquarters – Department of Defense Information Networks (JFHQ-DODIN) service members, led by DISA Vice Director Air Force Maj. Gen. Sarah Zabel and JFHQ-DODIN Deputy Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Robert Skinner, gathered on Fort George G. Meade’s McGlachlin Parade Field to participate in the installation’s Joint Service Wellness and Remembrance Run Sept. 9.

The Host Based Security System (HBSS), which enables the Defense Department to detect and counter known cyber threats to the DOD enterprise in real-time through a collection of flexible commercial-off-the-shelf and government-off-the-shelf applications, will be combined with several other tools to provide an evolved, holistic approach to cybersecurity network defense, known as Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS).

As the Department of Defense (DOD) continues to adopt commercial cloud capabilities, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) is helping cloud service providers and DOD mission owners work through the DOD Cloud Provisional Authorization (PA) process, which allows DOD to provisionally authorize a cloud service offering (CSO) and leverage that information many times over throughout DOD, saving mission owners time and money versus conducting independent assessments.

The Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) Global Operations Command, also known as DISA Global, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 11 to celebrate the official opening of its new, world-class facility on Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.

The Unclassified Information Sharing Service (UISS) All Partners Access Network (APAN) managed by the Defense Information Systems Agency’s Multinational Information Systems Division provided essential information sharing capabilities to the biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The exercise began June 30 and will conclude Aug. 4.

In a time of budgetary constraints, DISA has acquired $9.7 million from the DOD Office of Small Business Programs to fund innovative technologies in support of the American warfighter.
