Major General David Conboy

Deputy Commanding General (Operations)

Major General David J. Conboy assumed responsibilities as the U.S. Army Reserve Command Deputy Commanding General (Operations) on 1 October 2014.

In this capacity he oversees the sixteen Army Reserve Operational and Functional Commands located in the Continental United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Germany.

He most recently served as the Commanding General of the 416th Theater Engineer Command located in Darien, IL.

He previously served as the Deputy Commanding General for the Eighth United States Army in the Republic of Korea, as Deputy Program Manager, Office of the Program Manager, Facilities Security Forces in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and as the advisor to the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Joint Forces.

He has held numerous command and staff positions in the 98th Division, including Battalion and Brigade Commander, Deputy Chief of Staff and Deputy Commanding General.

On active duty, MG Conboy served with the 39th Engineer Battalion, Fort Devens, MA; as Resident Engineer at Thule Air Base, Greenland; and with the Buffalo District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

MG Conboy is a graduate of the U.S. Army Airborne School, the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Advanced Joint Professional Military Education, the U.S. Army War College and the Capstone Program.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University at Buffalo, and a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

MG Conboy is a licensed Professional Engineer and a certified Project Management Professional.

MG Conboy's awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Services Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Iraq Service Medal, the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal and the Bronze DeFleury Medal.

MG Conboy's civilian position is with the Buffalo District U.S Army Corps of Engineers as the Chief of the Technical Services Division. He deployed to Iraq as a civilian to oversee the reconstruction of the Oil Infrastructure throughout Southern Iraq.

MG Conboy and his wife Karen have three children. Sarah,a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and an Iraq War Veteran; David, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania; and seven year old daughter, Clare. They also have an eight year old granddaughter, Hailey.
