SECNAV Opens Dedicated OPM Databreach Website
By SECNAV News - July 2, 2015
In today's complex, high-tech world, more than ever — people matter.
- Secretary Mabus

The Secretary of the Navy just released an ALL NAVY message and opened a dedicated DON website to increase communications regarding the data breach: http://www.secnav.navy.mil/OPMBreachDON

The new website has:
- DON Frequently Asked Questions.
- A Tool Kit with steps you can take to protect yourself.
- A Newsfeed with current news headlines.
- "Ask a Question" feature so you can submit your questions directly for response.

OPM, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are continuing to investigate the extent of the OPM intrusions. As the investigation moves forward, it is likely that the list of those affected individuals could grow to include a significant number of current and former military members.

While the spectrum of risk to affected individuals is also not fully known, it is reasonable to assume it includes identity theft at a minimum. Timely and accurate information will be posted as it becomes available on the website.

DON senior leaders continue to work across the enterprise to provide information and plan for the way forward. Learn as much as you can and take the steps necessary to protect yourselves from identity theft.
