P90X creator and fitness expert Tony Horton
Tony Horton, creator of the P90X fitness series and healthy lifestyle expert, is scheduled to share his motivational story with attendees of the Utah Air National Guard's 70th Anniversary Gala at The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City on Nov. 4, 2016. The event is expected to draw approximately 600 local and out-of-state military members, retirees, community partners and other distinguished guests. Horton will also host an exercise session for Air National Guardsmen on Nov. 3 at the Roland R. Wright Air National Guard Base.

Utah ANG Commander presents coin to brother of fallen Green Beret
Brig. Gen. Christine Burckle, Utah Air National Guard Commander, presents a personal coin to Kevin Williams, brother of fallen Green Beret Sgt. 1st Class Matthew McClintock, who was killed saving an Airman teammate on Jan. 5 in Afghanistan. Burckle gave remarks at a fitness event on Sept. 10 in Park City, Utah, honoring McClintock, who was awarded the Silver Star for his actions in combat. McClintock was part of the 19th Special Forces Group, which is headquartered in Utah.

Utah ANG assumption of command ceremony

UTANG pilot visits elementary school for Armed Forced Day
Air Force Maj. TJ Eaton, a pilot with the 151st Operations Group, visits a
local elementary school on May 18 in honor of Armed Forces Day. Eaton showed
a group of more than 50 children various Air Force life support equipment,
and spoke about honoring those who serve in the military. In addition,
Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets from the University of Utah (as seen
in the background) demonstrated ceremonial flag folding procedures, offering
the children a hands-on opportunity to practice the procedures themselves.

National Military Appreciation Month
Utah Governor Gary Herbert, Maj. Gen. Jefferson Burton, Utah National Guard
Adjutant General; Gary Harter, Utah Department of Veterans and Military
Executive Director; and Brig. Gen. Kenneth Gammon, Joint Staff
Director, kicked off National Military Appreciation Month by participating
in a special signing of three bills related to the military on May 6, 2016, at the
Utah State Capitol. Bill HB 98 provides death benefits for the families of Utah
National Guard members who die while activated in the line of duty; bill HB
135 grants free admission to state parks for disabled veterans; and bill SB
35 creates a special license plate indicating the campaign or theater in
which a veteran served. Approximately thirty Utah Air National Guard and Army
