J6 – C4/Cyber
The Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4)/Cyber directorate, also referred to as the J6, provides and coordinates cyber and information technology capabilities.

The J6 Direcorate ensures operational and strategic flexibility to the combatant commander and component commands in the U.S. European Command area of responsibility. The J6 achieves this in close cooperation with the EUCOM staff and service components; U.S. Interagency and Combat Support Agencies; other combatant commands; allies and international military organizations; and valued public-private partners.

The J6 directorate is firmly committed to achieving these priorities:

  • Significantly improving the European theater’s C4 and Cyber Joint and Combined Operating Environment
  • “Operationalizing” the Joint Cyber Center capabilities (synchronization and integration)
  • Keeping keen focus on the “Human Dimension” – taking better care of our people and their families

The J6 also preserves and maintains strategic partnerships and key relationships with C4 and Cyber counterparts and allies via training, mil-to-mil engagement, joint exercises, theater security cooperation, and public-private engagement.

Finally, the J6 also focuses on information technology architecture and compliance as mandated by U.S. Federal Law (i.e.1996 Clinger-Cohen Act) and acts as the chief information officer for EUCOM.
