2013 Floods

Under Flood Control and Coastal Emergency Act, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers provides disaster preparedness and response services and advanced planning measures designed to reduce the amount of damage caused by an impending disaster. USACE is prepared and ready to respond to natural and man-made disasters.  When disasters occur, it is not just a local USACE district or office that responds. Personnel and other resources are mobilized across the country to carry out our response missions.

In any disaster, our top priorities are:

  • Support immediate life saving and life safety emergency response priorities
  • Sustain lives with critical commodities, temporary emergency power and other needs
  • Initiate recovery efforts by assessing and restoring critical infrastructure.

Colorado Flash Flooding Response

USACE is providing post-flood recovery support to the state of Colorado including technical assistance for emergency temporary housing, debris removal, water and wastewater infrastructure assessment, emergency regulatory permitting, and stream analysis to determine the appropriate response to changes in stream flows following the flooding.
