OSD FELLOWS PROGRAM | Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for L&MR

The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics & Materiel Readiness OSD(L&MR) Fellows Program is a year-long, hands-on, broadening and leadership program designed to enhance the career development of selected mid-level logistics professionals (military 04 to 05, civilian GS-13 to GS-14 or YA-02/03), by providing them with significant headquarters-level experience and opportunities.

During the year, Fellows are expected to fully immerse themselves in their work placement, which lies at the heart of the program. Assignments can offer unparalleled experience working with DoD officials on a variety of challenging issues.

Fellows are exposed to other unique developmental and educational experiences, including visits to locations like Capitol Hill, the headquarters of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), the headquarters of the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), and other commercial and DoD logistics operations and activities.

The Fellowship year is a full time commitment. Fellows are expected to focus exclusively on their work in this program and sponsoring organizations are asked not to require the Fellows to continue work related to their home station. During the year, leave can be taken if authorized, but Fellows are encouraged to take leave before or after the program year.

Each Service/Agency is encouraged to nominate several qualified individuals through an internal review, selection, and nomination process.
