Michael S. Abaie

Director of Engineering

Mr. Michael Abaie serves as the Director of the Engineering Directorate within the U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC). He is a member of the Senior Executive Service and is responsible for all engineering directorate activities at ECBC. Under Abaie's leadership, the 600-employee Engineering Directorate conducts ECBC's engineering development, testing, and additive manufacturing, and provides engineering support for the acquisition and sustainment of chemical and biological defense systems and materiel. Prior to assuming this position in January of 2015, Abaie held leadership roles within the Joint Chemical and Biological Defense Program (CBDP) and Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD).

Paul Tanenbaum, Ph.D.

Director of Program Integration

Dr. Paul Tanenbaum serves as the Director of Program Integration for the U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center. He leads a directorate workforce of approximately 450 people and manages the Center’s business activities and operating processes. His responsibilities include chemical/biological surety and policy, as well as chemical/biological defense support to current operations. Dr. Tanenbaum also leads Center-wide strategic and business planning, infrastructure support, and financial systems integration. This includes establishing policy for ensuring ECBC executes its mission effectively and is prepared to address the ever-increasing threats posed by weapons of mass destruction.
