'Cool effort' for those with heat injuries

Medical supplies, such as IV solution bags, will be kept cool on the way to treat heat injuries by the Heat Ailment Recovery Pack, or HARP, developed by the Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center.

The Heat Ailment Recovery Pack, or HARP, is being developed by the Joint Foodservice Engineering Team, or JFET, of the Combat Feeding Directorate at NSRDEC. It will help personnel maintain medical supplies at the proper temperatures and keep potable water cool until medical attention can be administered to Soldiers with heat-related injuries.

FDA clears new traumatic brain injury assessment device

The Ahead 200 uses commercial smartphone technology to analyze a patient's brain activity for signs of a traumatic brain injury within 24 hours of the injury.

In order to facilitate the expansion of telemedicine services in the Military Health System, this memorandum waives selective provisions of Department of Defense 602S.13-R, "Clinical Quality Assurance in the Military Health System," June 11 , 2004. This waiver is conditioned on the specific provisions of this memorandum, and shall remain in effect, unless modified or revoked, until the cancellation and reissuance of DoD 602S.13-R, or the issuance of a Department of Defense Instruction for or including telemedicine.
