CHIEF OF STAFF

Colonel Mark E. Rosenstein is Chief of Staff, Defense Information Systems Agency, Fort Meade, Maryland. He is responsible for coordinating the efforts of a 7,300-member organization and the management of a 10-billion-dollar-plus budget. He directs staff efforts to provide effective global command, control, and combat support systems for the President, Secretary of Defense, Combatant Commanders, Joint Staff, military departments, and combat support agencies.

Colonel Rosenstein enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1983, and in 1991 he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery corps through the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School. Prior to his commissioning, he served with the 2d Infantry Division (Korea), the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, and the Eighth U.S. Army (Korea). As a commissioned officer, he has served in a diverse array of command, staff, and joint assignments that include multiple combat and operational tours. Among his key strategic and operational assignments are: Battalion Command (Korea); Chief, Enlisted Signal Branch, U.S. Army Human Resources Command; Ministerial Strategic Plans and Policy Advisor Mentor, NATO Training Mission-Iraq (Multi-National Security Transition Command – Iraq); Chief, G6 Plans, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Headquarters (Italy); Brigade S3, 22d Signal Brigade (Germany); Corps G6 Plans Officer (V Corps/CJTF-7); Chief, Services and Support Division, Office of Defense Cooperation (Greece); S2/3 and S6, 10th Area Support Group (Okinawa), and duty in Turkey with the 528th U.S. Army Artillery Group (strategic munitions). Prior to joining DISA, Colonel Rosenstein graduated as a distinguished graduate from the Eisenhower School, National Defense University.

His military education includes the Senior Service College, the Command and General Staff College, the Army Comptrollership Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Signal Officer Advanced Course, and the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course. His civilian education includes a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School (formerly the Industrial College of the Armed Forces) and a Master of Business Administration from the State University of New York at Oswego.

His service is recognized with the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with star, the NATO Medal, and the U.S. Army Parachutist Badge. His foreign service is recognized with the Italian Army Brevet Parachutist Badge, the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency (Gold), and the Danish Contingent March Medal.

Colonel Rosenstein is married with two daughters.
