Corporate Source Authority System Search (CSAS)

Description: The Corporate Source Authority System database is a collection of Corporate Authors. Corporate Authors are the organizations and agencies responsible for reports received by DTIC.

Find it:
  1. Select "Research" from the Services tab on the DTIC banner.
  2. Select the "Corporate Source" from the list of links provided.
  3. Select "Search" to start your Corporate Source Authority System Search.

Contact Us

Description: The Contact Us area provides assistance with contacts and other DTIC informational needs.

DoD Investment Budget Search(R-2s and P-40s)

(formerly Research and Development Descriptive Summaries (RDDS))

Description: This database furnishes the Department of Defense (DOD) investment budgetary/narrative information from the President's Budget (PB) Submissions or Justification Books. Investment budgets include both Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) and Procurement. RDT&E programs are described on R-2s and identified by Program Elements (PE Numbers). Procurement programs are described on P-40s and are identified by Line Item Numbers.

Find it:
  1. Select the "Resources" link on the Services tab on the DTIC banner.
  2. Select "Budget Tools" link from the list of links provided.
  3. Select "DoD Investment Budget Search (R-2s and P-40s)".

Description: DTIC A to Z is an alphabetical listing of topics for easier access to information. If a resource cannot be located by navigating the site, DTIC A to Z can help.

DTIC Thesaurus

Description: The thesaurus is an alphabetical listing of subject headings (descriptors) to index and catalog technical documents in the DTIC collections for the purposes of reference and retrieval.

Find it:
  1. Select "Research" from the Services tab on the DTIC banner.
  2. Select the "DTIC Thesaurus" from the list of links provided.
  3. Select "Search" to start your "DTIC Thesaurus Search".

Information Analysis Centers (IAC)

Description: IACs are research and analysis organizations established by the DoD to support researchers, scientists, engineers and program managers with expertise in all areas of defense research and engineering.

Find it:
  1. Select "Resources" from the Services tab on the DTIC banner.
  2. Select the "Information Analysis Centers (IACs)" from the list of links provided to read about the IACs.
  3. Select the title "Information Analysis Centers (IACs)" to link directly to the IAC website.

Journals

Description: DTIC hosts Journals/Conferences/E-Book collections that are accessed through the site.

Find it:
  1. Select "Resources" from the Services tab on the DTIC banner.
  2. Select the "Journals (Other DoD Resources)" from the list of links provided.
  3. Individual journal resources are listed.

Obtaining Documents

Description: DTIC reports are available for downloading from DTIC's Technical Reports (TR) Collection. Recently added unclassified unlimited documents are offered to the public as online full-text versions free of charge. Registered DTIC users have access to unclassified limited full-text reports available for downloading and printing though the R&E Gateway.

Find it:
  1. Select "Research" from the Services tab on the DTIC banner.
  2. Select "Search Technical Reports" link from the list of links provided.
  3. Select "Search" to start your "TR Search".
  4. You may be able to purchase the document from National Technical Information Service (NTIS) if the report is not available for download from DTIC.

Reference

Description: The DTIC Reference Team provides extensive information on topics related to DoD science and technology research, referring you to the right informational source.

Find it: The reference assistance area can be accessed using the "Directory" link on the Contact Us tab on the DTIC banner.

Registration

Description: DTIC's Registration Team assists customers with registration eligibility requirements, problems with accessing DTIC Web services, and upgrading the level of access needed to view required information.

Find it: This service can be accessed by selecting "Register with DTIC" from the Registration tab on the DTIC banner.

Search Technical Reports

Description:  The search options include the Quick and Advanced Search for DTIC Technical Reports.

  1. Select "Research" from the Services tab on the DTIC banner.
  2. Select "Search Technical Reports" link from the list of links provided.
  3. Select "Search" to start your "TR Search".

Simple Search

Description: The simple search includes options to search DoD Sites and Collections, Technical Reports, or the DTIC website.

Find it: The "Simple Search" can be performed from the search box on the main menu bar located near the top of every DTIC web page.

Submitting Documents to DTIC

Description: DTIC facilitates information exchange throughout the Defense establishment and encourages everyone in the Defense community to participate in the program by submitting all appropriate materials for inclusion in our databases.

Find it: This service can be accessed using the "Submitting Docs to DTIC" from the Submit Documents tab on the DTIC banner.

Training

Description: DTIC provides free training to registered DTIC users at its headquarters and via Webinars using Defense Connect Online (DCO).
