Compliance Update -- Thanks to each of you who have already initiated the report filing for this year—not only does it get it off your back, but it helps those of us who have to keep track at the National level.
For those who haven’t begun, here is a bit of good news—especially if you are new to this and don’t have a clue as to where to begin:
Rose Ann Elliott, our Compliance Chair, has put together a very detailed “help” document which will certainly get you started, and probably carry you all the way through! It is posted here on the website under “Compliance Guide” . Just click on it—and follow the instructions. That’s all there is to it. There are lots of screenshots for those reports which must be done online.
So let’s get going! If you haven’t started your reports, organize a chili supper for the chapter, making sure you have a computer you can use at that location, and make it a fun afternoon or evening! Then you won’t cringe when you think about BSM Reports!
I’ve said it a hundred times, but here it is again: the IRS requires the reports to be filed by January 15, but you had all the information you needed to complete these on August 31.
If your chapter is in Michigan, Minnesota, or Ohio, you may have additional requirements for filing your Department reports. Be sure to get in touch with your Department officers if you have questions about those.
Get in touch with me or Rose Ann if you have any questions about national reports:
