GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  It is with great pride that I salute the Marines and Sailors of the 3d Marine Aircraft wing on their 73rd anniversary.
2.  Activated on 10 November 1942 at Cherry Point, 3d MAW provided vital training and support to Marines going into combat during World War II, Korea and Vietnam.  During the past two decades, in Operations DESERT STORM, IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM, 3d MAW maintained its leading edge in power projection, as well as a stabilizing force in unsteady regions of the world.
3.  You have consistently responded with professionalism, courage and expertise to accomplish your mission.  As you celebrate your proud past, please pause to remember your fellow Marines who made the ultimate sacrifice.
