ENTERPRISE FILE SHARE (EFS)

Overview

**The Enterprise File Share (EFS) service reached end-of-life on June 30, 2016. The alternative service for EFS is the DOD Enterprise Portal Service (DEPS), which uses a cost reimbursable rate.**

Enterprise File Share (EFS) offers an “on demand” file storage solution and is an expansion of the Department of Defense (DOD) Enterprise Portal Service (DEPS). Mission partners can request a collaboration site capable of storing up to 25 megabytes of files (e.g. Word or PowerPoint). Site requests are fulfilled on a rolling basis, and email notifications alerting primary and secondary site owners of the site address are issued within two to four business days.

As an appropriated service, EFS is available to all DOD Common Access Card (CAC) holders, and includes the following features:

  • Access to EFS and ability to request a sub-site
  • Sub-sites provisioning at 25 MB per user and temporary content collaboration and storage design
  • Ability for users to quickly obtain a central location to edit documents, collaborate, or share data on a temporary basis

EFS is built with the inherent capabilities of Microsoft SharePoint. EFS is a standard out-of-the-box implementation of SharePoint and provides the feature functionality associated with Standard DEPS offering and licensing. Sites are provisioned for a limited time period, ensuring storage requirements are optimized and the offering remains agile to the immediate sharing needs of the department.

As an appropriated service, EFS is available at no cost to all DOD CAC holders.

Performance Standards
