Vision Loss 101

Vision loss is generally defined by a decreased ability to see. It can include partial loss of sight in the visual field to total and complete blindness. Vision loss can be caused by a variety of reasons including injury to the eye, injury to parts of the brain responsible for vision as well as other diseases and age-related conditions.

The loss of vision can have a significant effect on various areas of a person's life. Employment, independence and quality of life can all be compromised with any form of vision loss. The more that a person knows about their own potential for vision loss as well as prevention and treatment options, the more likely the chance that the negative impact to one's life is minimized.
