News! OPEN SEASON FOR FEDERAL EMPLOYEE’S HEALTH INSURANCE, VISION AND DENTAL INSURANCE, AND FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS

Open Season 2016 begins November 14, 2016 and runs through December 12, 2016. Open Season gives eligible Federal employees the opportunity to make elections for health, vision and dental coverage, as well as flexible spending accounts. Elections made during Open Season are effective the first full pay period on or after January 1, 2017.

Federal Employee’s Health Benefit (FEHB)

The FEHB program offers coverage options including Self Only, Self Plus One and Self and Family. FEHB elections may be made by using the Employee Benefits Information System (EBIS). Contact your Agency Human Resource Office for more information.

Federal Employee’s Vision and Dental Program (FEDVIP)

The FEDVIP program offers dental and vision benefits. Premiums for Federal employees are withheld from salary on a pre-tax basis.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

During Open Season, Federal employees can elect to participate in a tax-deferred Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for health care and/or dependent care.

A Health Care FSA (HCFSA) is a pre-tax benefit account that’s used to pay for eligible medical, dental, and vision care expenses.

A Dependent Care FSA (DCFSA) is a pre-tax benefit account used to pay for eligible dependent care services including childcare and adult daycare.
