Maj. Gen. Kent Savre, U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general, and Command Sgt. Maj. Roy Ward, MSCoE and Fort Leonard Wood CSM, took part in the Military Awareness and Appreciation Day Thursday at the Missouri Capitol in Jefferson City.
Hosted by the Missouri Military Preparedness and Enhancement Commission, the event was "dedicated to highlighting the significant contributions and sacrifices of this nation's military service members and the importance of military and Department of Defense installations and their significant economic impact on the State of Missouri," Mike Dunbar, MMPEC chairman, said.
As part of the event, Savre provided an update on the installation and answered questions during a joint informational hearing of the Missouri Senate Veterans' Affairs and Health Committee and the House Veterans Committee. He also addressed members of the Missouri House of Representatives.
Speaking to members of the Missouri House and Senate, Savre said, "At the heart of mission success is a leader, a Soldier or a capability that came from the heart of America - Fort Leonard Wood. The skills and tools that Fort Leonard Wood Soldiers and leaders have are unique to the Army and are always critical for the success of the mission."
