Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS)
DTSA evaluates the potential impact of foreign acquisitions
of U.S. companies, reviewed by
the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS),
for military-related equities that could have an impact to
national security. DTSA served as the DoD lead agency for
CFIUS until FY 2012, at which time the
Office of
Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (AT&L) assumed
responsibility for providing the Department’s input to the
Department of the Treasury on all CFIUS-related matters.
DTSA works closely with AT&L to develop appropriate
mitigation measures to prevent unauthorized access by foreign
entities to critical military technology and expertise. DTSA
works with the Departments of Commerce and State to ensure that
foreign-acquired companies will continue to comply with export
control requirements to protect America’s technological
advantage.
