- Benji Frey1starThere are several reasons for this low rating. I have had a "full week" meal plan for the five years that I've attended ...UNT. While the quality of food has improved over the course of the years, the service (e.g., replacing food when it runs out leaving you with limited options) has declined. More often than not I find myself limited to a smaller selection of choices due to most of them being "out." Why offer three entrees when two are out? The cereals are rarely replenishe
d once they run out, and the milk usually isn't replaced until after breakfast is over. Additional ly, sometimes the rotation of vegetables / entrees isn't as good as it could be. I understand that you have to cook for large amounts of people, but there are a plethora of dishes that can be cooked using the same ingredient s that the cafeteria uses. Eating the same vegetable for lunch and dinner becomes bland very quickly, and no, changing spices does not make one vegetable transform into a different vegetable. With the expansion of Bruce, I often find it hard to locate a clean table and normally have to wipe away residual food from the table (and chairs sometimes! ) prior to sitting. Starting last semester, "Full week" only included Sunday-Fri day, and you used flex money at Kerr (or the union) to eat. I never was informed of this change and found out myself eating at Kerr the first weekend back in the Fall. This semester, they finally changed the name of the meal plans to "Eagle" and "Scrappy," rather than keeping "full week" because the name suggests otherwise. Why am I not pleased with this semester's meal plan? Once again, on Saturday the students are forced to go eat at the union using flex dollars. I'd be fine with that... Except a.) not everyone wakes up late around 11, b.) the only early options are Starbucks (opens 7:30AM) and Fuzzy's tacos (10AM - really?), c.) promotes highly unhealthy eating, and d.) where in the union can you get a "decent" meal that does not consist of a medium soda and chips for $2.96? If the meals (under Eagle meal plan) are $2.96/ meal, then why are you forcing us to eat at the union, where prices are much higher per meal? The only viable options pretty much are greasy, junky fast foods. I am highly disappoint ed with these changes, and the lack of student involvemen t in the decision making process. There is literally no concern for those that have allergies/ insensitivi ty towards certain foods, or for students that don't eat out and want to be healthy. Overall, I am very displeased with the recent changes made within dining services. See More
