Tenor Michael Alonzo, a University of North Texas alumnus, will perform a recital at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Alonzo performs as part of the church’s free Trinity Series, which has brought several local musicians to the church for intimate performances of classical and folk music.

Tenor Michael Alonzo, a University of North Texas alumnus, will perform a recital at 4 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2200 N. Bell Ave.

Alonzo performs as part of the church’s free Trinity Series, which has brought several local musicians to the church for intimate performances of classical and folk music.

During his studies at UNT, Alonzo appeared in The Merry WidowLes Contes d’HoffmannLe Nozze di FigaroIl Barbiere di SivigliaCendrillonSweeney Todd and Vec Cage. He’s sung in the chorus at the Fort Worth Opera, has been a featured soloist with the Orchestra of New Spain and performed in the regional premieres of Mariachi Girl at Dallas Children’s Theater and In the Heights at Artes de la Rosa.

Sunday’s concert is free, but contributions are welcome and will be put toward Alonzo’s upcoming studies with Opera in Concert in Urbino, Italy. Opera in Concert is a Dallas organization that grooms professional singers with intensive Italian study at University of Urbino.
