IRVING, Texas -- The North Texas softball team finished the 2016 season on a high note, taking two of three from Conference USA Co-Western Division Champion UAB on the final weekend of the regular season. The junior from Hico, Texas, Underwood tossed her first complete-game shutout of the season, the second of her career, as part of her 10.0 shutout innings. On the weekend, she allowed just four hits with three walks and seven strikeouts in 10.0 scoreless innings.

In game two of the UAB series, she stranded the bases loaded in the first inning and then allowed just two base runners and did not allow a base runner to advance into scoring position in the final six innings. For the game, she allowed just two hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 7.0 shutout innings.

In the regular-season finale, she came on in relief and worked 3.0-plus scoreless innings, which included a perfect fifth and sixth innings, as the offense erased an early 2-0 deficit and rallied to a 3-2 walk-off win for the series win.

The Mean Green finish the 2016 season with a 22-33 record.
