QEP leadership team unveils timeline

UNT’s Quality Enhancement Plan team wants to thank you for your ongoing support.

In the past year, the UNT community has helped the QEP team narrow down topics and choose a plan that is appropriate for the university.

This plan is an important part of the university’s reaffirmation of accreditation, which takes place in 2016. UNT will be evaluated by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

The QEP chosen in October 2014 strengthens community engagement, providing students with valuable career experience, expanding their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills and strengthening their communication skills.

In December, the university’s QEP leaders attended the SACSCOC annual meeting to review the reaffirmation process. The QEP Leadership Team and the proposal team discussed next steps. As we prepare for these next steps, we want to share with you the timeline of the QEP process.

2015

  • Throughout the spring semester: QEP teams work to refine the proposal and get ready for “year zero” implementation in Fall 2015.  Board of Regents will be updated.
  • January to February: Identification of resources, participants, goals and organizational needs. Working groups will be formed.
  • May: QEP Plan Draft review by UNT SACSCOC Executive Leadership team and other constituencies.
  • June: QEP Plan Draft initial review by SACSCOC external consultants
  • Throughout summer: QEP Plan finalized. UNT reaffirmation leadership will attend SACSCOC Summer QEP Institute.
  • September: QEP Baseline Year begins
  • December: Offsite review of UNT reaffirmation report

2016

  • January: Submit QEP document to SACSCOC
  • February: Feedback on QEP from SACSCOC review committee
  • January to March: QEP campus awareness campaign
  • March: SACSCOC site visit will focus on UNT’s QEP
  • June: SACSCOC reaffirmation
  • Through 2021: QEP five-year cycle

I will continue to lead the QEP working teams during the initial planning phases for spring 2015.

More than 40 individuals – faculty, students, staff, alumni and community members – are ready to fulfill the various roles and participate on teams that will be needed this spring. Additional team members will be identified as the process moves forward.
