Online programs offer flexibility, speed

Want a master’s degree but can’t fit in a traditional on-campus program?

The Accelerated Online Master’s Program may be what you’re looking for.

Two new master's degrees - educational leadership, including principal certification, and learning technologies – may be completed in 12 months in a compressed format that lets students complete a class in eight weeks.

Classes begin Jan. 14, and enrollees must be admitted to the university.

Tuition is about $1,000 per class, and employees also may use the employee tuition scholarship benefit when enrolled in these accelerated, online master's degree programs.

Students can take up to two courses every eight weeks, averaging four courses in one traditional semester. The compressed format allows students to complete a 36-hour program in a year, while the average time it takes to complete a master’s program through the traditional on-campus learning experience is 18-24 months.

The program is geared towards working adults or those that are motivated by focused, intensive learning experiences, and who need convenience and flexibility.

Students can enroll in a new class every eight weeks, or can take a break before continuing the program. The 2013 program begins Jan. 14. Classes are offered every eight weeks with five available start dates.

Faculty who facilitate traditional 16-week courses also facilitate coursework for the Accelerated Online Program.
