Maurice Aniefiok hit a team-season-high five 3-pointers, but his 20 points weren't enough to hold off UTSA in the second half.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - DeAndre Harris had an open look at the game-tying 3-pointer from the right corner but it rimmed out, and now the Mean Green will play the waiting game.

North Texas entered Saturday's game at UTSA in control of its own desitny - a win would have clinched the No. 6 seed in next week's C-USA Tournament - but after the 69-68 loss to the Roadrunners, NT has to wait for the rest of the league's games to finish to find out its seed and who its first-round opponent will be. Five teams entered the final day of C-USA action within a game of the Mean Green.

"I give UTSA credit for making the plays to win that game, but I felt like we let that one slip away," said North Texas head coach Tony Benford.

The Mean Green was clicking on all cylinders in the first half. Colin Voss had eight points, eight rebounds and four assists in the opening frame to send NT into the break with a 42-33 lead.

That's when the Kaj-Bjorn Sherman show began. The 7-foot senior posted 18 of his 30-points in the second half, and led the Roadrunners on 8-0 and 9-0 runs that put them in front for good with 7:13 on the clock.

The 30 points from Sherman are tied for the third most by an NT opponent this season, and overshadowed a nice 20-point outing from Maurice Aniefiok. The junior hit 5-of-9 shots from 3-point, which are the most by an NT player this year.
