Live Stats

DENTON, Texas (1/29/09) - Buckle your seat belts, the Sun Belt’s top two scoring offenses are set to meet at the Super Pit tonight at 7 p.m. Troy and North Texas are averaging 77.7 and 76.9 points per game, respectively, which puts both squads in the top 50 in the NCAA. What’s more, both teams are riding four-game win streaks.

Trojan guard Michael Vogler has been on fire for the last week. The junior led Troy to wins over New Orleans and West Division leader UALR with a pair of 18 point performances on 77.0 percent shooting for the week.

In the last outing against the Trojans, North Texas avenged an overtime loss at Troy with a 90-64 win at the Super Pit on Feb. 16, 2008. Collin Dennis paved the way with 34 points, which are the most by a North Texas player since Chris Davis in 2001. Dennis earned Sun Belt Player of the Week honors for his accolades against the Trojans.

Thursday’s action begins at 7 p.m. (CST) and can be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network.

What To Watch For

Few players in the nation are playing hotter right now than NT’s Eric Tramiel. The junior has posted back-to-back double-doubles, including a 22-point, 15-rebound performance at Florida International. Since the turn of the New Year, Tramiel is leading North Texas with 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game on 62.5 percent shooting.

George Odufuwa and Eric Tramiel have powered North Texas to the top of the Sun Belt rebounding charts. Tramiel ranks fourth in the SBC with 6.9 boards per game and Odufuwa isn’t far behind in sixth place at 6.8 per game, but more importantly the Mean Green leads the league with 38.7 each contest.

The North Texas stat crew had better be on its game when Troy comes to town. The Trojans and the Mean Green are the Sun Belt’s top scoring teams at 77.7 and 76.9 points per game, respectively. Only two teams in the country (VMI & Eastern Kentucky) have made more shots from downtown (194) than the Trojans this year.

North Texas leads the all-time series with the Trojans, 4-1, including a perfect 3-0 mark at the Super Pit. In those three games in Denton, North Texas is averaging a 24.7 point margin of victory over Troy.

Josh White worked his way back into the national top 10 in free throw percentage by sinking his last six attempts over the last  two games. The sophomore is tied for ninth in the country with a 90.7 percent mark from the stripe, and leads the Sun Belt Conference.
