Dillard, Milam Take Home All-Conference Honors

Nov. 17, 2015

DENTON - Conference USA released its postseason awards on Tuesday, and two of North Texas volleyball’s all-around threats picked up honors as senior Carnae Dillard was named to the first team and sophomore Holly Milam took a spot on the all-conference second team.

The first team selection comes as no surprise for Dillard, who caps off her senior year with the fourth straight first-team honor of her career. She becomes only the second player - and the first since hall-of-famer Corina Marginas - to accomplish such a feat.

The five-time C-USA Offensive Player of the Week was rewarded after leading the NCAA with 5.43 kills per set and 13.99 attacks per set. Additionally, she finished the regular season with 5.89 points per set that was good for second in the country. Dillard leads C-USA in each of those categories and will certainly be in contention for her second league player of the year award later this week.

Middle blocker Holly Milam has done a bit of everything for the Mean Green this season. Her 2.15 kills per set is good for second on the team, and she leads the Mean Green with 98 total blocks on the year. Earlier this week Milam was named C-USA defensive player of the week, good for the first weekly award of her career. Now, she has followed that up with her first career all-conference selection.

Dillard and Milam will lead fourth-seeded North Texas into battle at this weekend’s Conference USA Volleyball Championships from San Antonio. For Dillard, it will be the last chance to win the league title and advance to the coveted NCAA Tournament.
