Bradley Selected As Conference USA Swimmer Of The Week

Feb. 2, 2016

IRVING, Texas -- For the second time in three weeks, a North Texas swimmer earned her first career Conference USA weekly award. This week, it was freshman Rebekah Bradley, who was selected as Conference USA Swimmer of the Week for her performance in this past week's dual-meet win over Metroplex rival TCU.

It was the third weekly award for the North Texas swimming and diving program this season. Senior Jasmine Abercrombie was named Diver of the Week for Oct. 13, while sophomore Sarah Vaisse was named Co-Swimmer of the Week for Jan. 19.

The Auckland, New Zealand, native continues to shine in her first season with the Mean Green. Against TCU, Bradley won first place in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke and was also a part of a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, swimming the backstroke leg of the event.

Both her times in the 100-yard backstroke (55.68) and 200-yard backstroke (2:03.44) were personal bests and the second-fastest times by a North Texas swimmer in the respective events this season.

Since joining the team in January, she has eight first-place finishes over three different meets and six different events. It includes back-to-back first-place finishes in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke.

With the win over TCU, just the fourth in school history, North Texas enters this weekend's meet at SMU with a 7-3 record in dual meets, the best start in school history. North Texas and SMU duel in the pool on Friday, Feb. 5 at the Mansfield Natatorium in Mansfield, Texas.
