We are tremendously proud of our students’ recent achievements:

  • Jen Guzman was one of the winners of the UNT Concerto Competition! She will be performing on Wednesday March 9th in Winspear Hall. 
  • UNT undergraduate and graduate clarinetist Music Education graduates have a 100% job placement rate. 

Our alumni teach in colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and perform in service bands and symphony orchestras throughout the U.S. To learn more about their accomplishments, visit the Alumni tab.

We are proud to host a wide variety of guest artists on campus.  In 2013-14, we featured Mark Simons (McGill University, Montreal, Canada); Robert Spring (Arizona State University); Wesley Ferreira (Colorado State University); and Victoria Luperi (Principal Clarinetist of the Ft. Worth Symphony Orchestra), In 2013, Mark Nuccio (New York Philharmonic) joined us on campus for a week of rehearsals and performances that culminated in recordings of Artie Shaw’s Concerto and Scott McAllister’s Black Dog with our Wind Symphony.  Assistance from the Charn Uswachoke International Development Fund facilitated the College of Music’s Festival Brasileiro that featured Brazilian clarinetists Ricardo Freire (University of Brasilia) and Johnson Machado (Federal University of Goias).  Other recent guests include Jeremy Reynolds (University of Denver); Diane Cawein Barger (University of Nebraska-Lincoln); Chad Burrow (University of Michigan); and Eric Mandat (Southern Illinois University).

We welcome high school clarinetists to join us June 22-25, 2016 for our 5th annual ClarEssentials workshop, four days of events designed especially for high school students; masterclasses, clinics, and recitals presented by University of North Texas faculty members John Scott, Kimberly Cole Luevano, Deborah Fabian, and Daryl Coad, along with staff pianist Anatolia Ioannides. We are also excited to continue our ClarEssentials Middle School Workshops June 6–8 and 13–15 at area high schools.  Please go HERE for more information.
