Lacey Hailey, assistant principal of Rivera Elementary School, has been named the next principal at McNair Elementary. The promotion coincides with the announcement that Dr. Debbie Cano, McNair’s current principal, will become the district’s new director of intervention services in the fall.

“I am honored and excited to serve the McNair community. I'm ready to work alongside the innovative and talented staff to continue the great things that are happening for students,” Mrs. Hailey said.

Mrs. Hailey spent her first five years with Denton ISD teaching Spanish and coaching volleyball at Ryan High School. She then moved to Frisco ISD’s Cobb Middle School and began work on her administrative certifications and completed an administrative internship. In 2012, Mrs. Hailey was named the assistant principals of Parkview Elementary in Keller ISD, where she served until 2015.   Mrs. Hailey returned to Denton ISD in 2015 and has performed administrative duties at both McNair and Rivera Elementary Schools this year. As part of her duties, she serves as a testing coordinator, 504 coordinator and interventionist.

“When Lacey returned to the district, it was immediately apparent that she had grown as an administrator,” said Susannah O’Bara, area superintendent of academic programs. “She has the reputation for being a problem solver and taking the initiative to always do what is best for students.” Mrs. Hailey earned her bachelor’s degree from Austin College and master’s degree in educational administration from the University of North Texas. She and her family reside in Lantana.
